1. Review Week 4 worksheet #2, please study the R-controlled words on page 4 

2. Week 5 VW and definition #1-25 

  •        at the base (just like as the bottom)

      e.g. We set up the tent at the base of a hill. 

  •       you need to put the article "the" in front of the following: 

         the Sahara Desert 

         the Himalayas (a group / range of mountains) but not for a mountain peak : Mount Everest is a mountain peak. 

           e.g. The Himalayas is the highest mountain range in the world, and has 9 out of 10 of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Everest.

         the Nile River 

  • Pouring rain: 

        The rain is pouring. 

        It is raining dogs and cats. 

  • mile: idiom ~ go the extra mile:make a special effort to achieve something.
