Today's lesson
1. Review Week 4 VW #13-25 and definition
- annual party / dinner (take place once a year)
- volcano(es) for plural
- extreme weather / sports
- ferment: food that ferments with yeast ~ bread dough / wine / bear / tofu / soy sauce, but cakes don't undergo fermentation, we put baking soda into cake flour.
2. R-controlled words: please review Google classroom flash cards for the meaning. R-controlled review, and the youtube clips.

3. Idioms /proverbs in RWN:
- have a word with (someone) ~ want to talk to someone
- e.g. Can I have a word with you? = Can I talk to you privately?
2. can't get a word in edgeways = someone is talking so much that you don’t have a chance to speak.
- e.g. My classmates keep talking for the whole team discussion, I can't get a word in edgeways. (I didn't get a chance to say anything)
3. have the nerve = to be brave enough to do something
- e.g. She has the nerve to dance in front of a big crowd of people.
4. down to earth (接地氣) = someone is kind, friendly, and easy to talk to
- e.g. The princess is very down to earth, she likes to take the public transportation and eat McDonald's.
5.earn your keep = you are doing work or helping out to deserve the things you get
6. The early bird gets the worm (早起的鳥兒有蟲吃)= if you start something early or on time, you are more likely to succeed or get a reward.
3. Worksheet # 1 (tomorrow's homework) is given today, students have more time to work on and study for Friday's quiz.
