Miss Byers started fun activities like baseball games and a school newspaper.

The school newspaper was called Coyote School News.

The children wrote stories about their lives and family ranches for the newspaper.

During roundup, Ramón helped his family with branding cattle. 
- The children helped pick and string chiles after school. 
- Ramón broke his wrist by riding in the back of a truck.

He didn’t tell his dad about his wrist at first because his dad warned him about truck rides.
